Brief Introduction about the PC/SC:

PC/SC , a standard user interface(API) based on WINDOWS platform, proposed by the PC/SC Workgroup which is composed of Microsoft and other leading smart card manufacturers around the world, provides an integrated environment from Personal Computer to Smart Card. 

This Specification builds upon existing industry smart card standards (ISO7816/EMV) and compliments in more detail the low-level device interfaces and device-independent application APIs such as the resource manager that allows multiple applications to share the same smart card attached to a system, it is put forward to achieve the following goals:

1) Follow current ICC and PC standards and expand where appropriate.

2) Cross platform operability, enables it to be implemented on a variety of hardware and software platforms.

3) Support applications from products offered by different manufactures (manufacturer independent).

4) Establish application level smart card service interface, promote ICC application on PC and PC to adopt ICC as the main standard device.
